What's walkable: Washington Avenue (the main street), the Clear Creek trail through town, and the Colorado School of Mines campus.

Approximate, at normal (non-rush) traffic. Rush hour, weekend mountain traffic and snow can add a lot.
Transit
The W Line light rail ends at Jefferson County Government Center–Golden station, east of downtown Golden, with service to Lakewood and Denver Union Station. Most people drive, bike or take an RTD bus to the station.
What it's like
A real small town with a historic main street, set right against the foothills. Clear Creek runs through the middle of downtown, and the trail along it gets a lot of use. It feels like its own place, not a suburb of Denver.
